Preparing Students for Life
Citizens in Rusk County Wisconsin are extremely fortunate to have access to two excellent educational options for secondary students, Ladysmith High School (LHS) and the Health Care Academy (HCA). Ladysmith High School is situated on a scenic 78-acre site on the eastern edge of the city. Numerous outdoor venues on the grounds of the campus include a lighted cross-country ski trail that winds its way through the woods surrounding the property, two baseball fields, a softball field, football field, outdoor track and asphalt field event venues, tennis courts, outdoor volleyball court, outdoor basketball, and numerous practice fields. The varsity baseball field, football field, track, tennis courts and a practice field are lighted for evening participation, practice, and/or competition.
The school itself consists of 10 interconnected buildings. In addition to the academic buildings, there is a cafeteria and kitchen, a gymnasium, six locker-rooms, an indoor pool and weight room facility, an auditorium, and a library. Ladysmith High School is a four-year traditional, rural public high school. However, the course selections we offer are anything but traditional.
LHS offers a wide variety of courses to challenge and enrich students from all walks in life, interests, and differing future educational needs.
In addition to the courses we offer the following athletic opportunities: Boys-Cross Country, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Golf, and Track; Girls-Cross Country, Golf, Volleyball, Dance Team, Swimming, Basketball, Spirit Squad, Softball, and Track. F1 visa students are not permitted to play competitively in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA). They may compete at the club and intramural level.
The following clubs and organizations have also been offered to our students: Forensics, High Mileage Vehicle, Yearbook, Arrive Alive, Art Club, Chess Club, Environmental Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (F.C.A.), Letter-winners Club, Spanish Club, Teens Against Tobacco Use (T.A.T.U.), The All School Musical or Play, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Handbell Ensemble, National Honors Society, Health Occupation Students of America (H.O.S.A.), and Student Council. These co-curricular offerings are determined by student interest. These activities may occur during the school day, before and after school, in the evening, and on weekends and are available to all students.
